iOS 4.2 has gone GM

I really cannot wait for iOS 4.2.
I really like the printing capabilities of iOS 4.2 and I think that they are going to be very useful.

I think that it is going to be available before the end of November although I believe that the release date will be around the 15th of November.

The cost of an iPhone application

"However, iPhone competent developers run in the range of $80-$150 depending on their skill and time with the platform. I would say that for a simple application, an app would probably run 2K-5K, a medium complexity app would run 5K-15K and a fairly complex app running 15K-30K.
Game applications could be even more.
The reason it is so high is that the skill is fairly specialized and not everyone is able to do it..."

Found it here.

LaTeX works better now

LaTeX works better.
At least it can compile the default LaTeX templates from TextMate.
I have to fix some more things though but thinks are certainly better.

LaTeX update

Latest news:

  • Deleted the Macports LaTeX installation
  • Downloading this LaTeX Distribution

More tk :)

My LaTeX installation is not working!

I am using LaTeX (with TextMate) both for writing Mathematical equations and typesetting books.
I am using the Macports version of LaTeX but (I think) after updating to Snow Leopard my LaTeX stopped working!
Now is the time to fix it.

I will keep you informed.

My new iPhone 4!

I have just gotten my iPhone 4!
First impressions:
  • Smaller than 3GS
  • Better screen than 3GS
  • Heavier than 3GS
  • I like the flash!
As I have already sold my iPhone 3GS (the first week of August), I have to admin that I really missed it and I wanted my new iPhone as soon as possible.

I can now start programming it as I have to write two iPhone-related articles for MacTech magazine.

A quote on programming

When I am working on a problem
I never think about beauty.
I think only how to solve the problem.
But when I have finished,
if the solution is not beautiful,
I know it is wrong.

iMacs running low...

iPhone 4 and Greece

July is about to end and there are no news
about iPhone 4 coming to Greece.

I know many people in Greece (including me!) that
want to buy iPhone 4 but there are no dates.
I expect iPhone 4 to be officially available to
Greek customers by the end of August...

You may ask what I really want from the new
iPhone that I cannot find in 3GS,
well, here is a small list:
  • iPhone 4 is faster
  • I want to use the new APIs
  • iPhone 4 has a better screen
  • I find the shape of the new iPhone much better
  • I like the new 5MP camera (please note that I am also a photographer)

Please Apple do something!
