Exposé and new Apple keyboards

  • Ctrl-F3: Current application windows mode
  • Command-F3: Show desktop mode
  • Option-F3: Opens the Exposé & Spaces System Preferences panel.
Although I enjoy my compact aluminum wired Apple keyboard, I was looking for the above shortcuts, and especially for the Command-F3 one.

Photos of my new keyboard!

Although I really like my new keyboard, there exist two small issues with it:

  • There is only one control (ctrl) key on the left. I used to use the right control key to change between different spaces

A new (compact) Apple Keyboard!

Almost everyone was expecting the Apple hardware updates: iMac, Mac Mini, and Mac Pro – although the MacBook Pro speed updates were a little surprise.

But I do not think that anyone –including me– was expecting a new (compact) Apple keyboard!!!

Get a wireless Apple keyboard or not?

Although in my personal wish-list for 2009, I stated that I would like to have a Wireless Apple keyboard, I finally decided to get a wired Apple keyboard – I will have it by the end of March.

The main reason for my decision is that I do not want more wireless activity around me...

F4 or F12 for Dashboard

When Dashboard came out, the recommended keyboard shortcut for it was the F12 key.

Both the new Aluminum Apple keyboards recommend the F4 key, although you can change this behavior from System Preferences.

What keyboard shortcut are you using?

My eBook describes how you can create Apple Dashboard Widgets using many programming languages including JavaScript, Perl, Objective-C, and PHP.
You can buy it here.
